The Collector’s Curiosity Box: Edition One
The Collector’s Curiosity Box began as a way of sharing the quieter objects that influence my paintings and shape how I think. It exists somewhere between artwork and keepsake, part studio fragment and part small archive.
In my working space and at home, I surround myself with bones and taxidermy, preserved flora, curiosities & oddities, small finds that hold weight beyond their size. They act as companions while I paint, grounding the themes that run through my practice: transformation, healing, ritual, memory, and the strange comfort of the overlooked.
This box gathers some of those influences together.
Each one was assembled by hand in my studio. Every object, label, and detail was placed deliberately. I wanted the whole piece to feel as though it had been discovered rather than packaged. Something slightly time-worn. Personal. Considered.
The box is the artwork, not just what it contains. It functions as a small cabinet of curiosities in its own right. A miniature archive of the visual and symbolic language that feeds into my life rituals and painting practice.
Only ten were made. No two are identical. Each one offers a glimpse into the materials and ideas that quietly sit behind the finished works.
Inside each box:
– An A3 fine art print
– A specimen index list
– Organic dark opal basil seeds
– Ethically sourced rodent bones from owl pellets
– A pack of incense with holder, in velvet pouch
– Two spell candles with holder
– Dried lavender
– A vintage-style key
– A preserved vintage British moth in case
– A small vintage photograph
Edition of ten.
